Privacy Policy for Synqo
Effective Date: September 7, 2026 | Last Updated: September 7, 2026
Summary: Synqo is built around real-time co-watching. We do not sell your personal data, we do not show intrusive ads, party chat is completely ephemeral (deleted as soon as the party closes), and voice chat audio is processed in real time without being recorded or stored.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Synqo ("the App"), we collect the following types of information to provide and maintain our services:
- Account Information: When signing in via Google Authentication, we collect your Google user ID, email address, display name, and profile picture URL. You also choose a unique public handle (
@username).
- User Profile Photos: If you upload custom profile photos, they are stored securely in Supabase Storage and associated with your account ID.
- Social & Party Interactions: Friend relationships, party memberships, public party listings, video queue items, and presence indicators (e.g., online status, current room status).
- Microphone / Audio Data: When voice chat is enabled, real-time voice audio is transmitted between party participants via Agora RTC. Audio streams are processed live and are never recorded, analyzed, or stored on our servers.
- Device & Diagnostics: Push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging) for room invitations and friend alerts, app crash logs (Firebase Crashlytics), and aggregated app analytics (Firebase Analytics).
2. How Your Information is Used
- To authenticate you and maintain your account profile and friends list.
- To synchronize YouTube playback state between room hosts and participants in real time.
- To facilitate live in-room voice chat and ephemeral text chat.
- To send you push notifications when friends invite you to a watch party (optional, manageable via settings).
- To diagnose bugs, prevent abuse, and ensure service stability.
3. Ephemeral Chat & Data Retention
Party Chat: Text messages and emoji reactions sent in a watch party are strictly ephemeral. The entire message history and room subtree are automatically purged when the party ends and the last participant leaves.
Voice Audio: Real-time voice chat audio is streamed peer-to-peer/via Agora RTC relays and is never stored on disk or retained after transmission.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We work with trusted infrastructure providers who adhere to rigorous privacy standards:
- Google Firebase: Authentication, Realtime Database for sync, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, and Crashlytics (Google Privacy Policy).
- Agora.io: Real-time voice communication processing (Agora Privacy Policy).
- Supabase: Storage infrastructure for user profile pictures (Supabase Privacy Policy).
- YouTube: The app embeds YouTube videos via standard player components. Your interaction with YouTube player content is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
5. Data Safety & Security
All network communications between the App and our backend services are encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS/WSS). Realtime Database security rules enforce strict read/write boundaries.
6. Account & Data Deletion
You have full control over your data. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time either directly within the app (You → Account Settings → Delete Account) or online by visiting our Account Deletion Page.
Upon deletion, your profile, username handle, uploaded photos, friends graph, block list, and auth credentials will be permanently erased.
7. Children's Privacy
Synqo is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
